The Incident in Copenhagen

By: Annabelle Ma

On the day my family and I arrived in Copenhagen, we believed that our trip would be full of relaxing adventure. However, on the second day, we would be proven wrong.

The story begins when we were walking to the metro station to go back to our hotel. Because our hotel was far away from the city center, we would always take a metro to the city center, and back to our hotel.

Once we arrived at the metro station, we scanned our tickets and found our way to the train that we were supposed to take. As we turned the corner, I realized that our metro had already arrived!

“This is the one!” I screamed.

“We need to hurry!” my sister exclaimed as she ran towards the metro as the doors were beeping.

Little did we know, the doors were about to close. Frightened, my mom ran after my sister. At the door, my mom hunched her back, attempting to hold the doors open so she could go in.

Despite all her effort, the doors were pushing against her body—she barely managed to make it in.

Meanwhile, my dad and I watched in shock, hoping that both my mom and my sister were okay.

“What do we do now?” I asked, hopeless.

“I texted Mom—she said that she will meet us at the next station where they will board our metro,” my dad reassured me.

After we waited three minutes, my dad and I boarded the next metro. When we saw my mom and my sister and the next stop, we were full of relief.

Once they saw us, they hopped onto our metro, and we talked happily about our surprising experience as we were on our way back to the hotel.
