RAMONA’S MISTAKE

By: Aurora Cai

Ramona went to sleep and woke up at the edge of a volcano. It was so rough Ramona immediately didn’t like it. She smelled a lot of smoke and she saw a glitch in the scene, only to find out she was in a simulation for a secret school. The principal was there to talk to Ramona, and she explained that Ramona was a candidate for a spot in the secret school. Ramona didn’t know why she got the invitation, but she accepted anyway. The principal seemed nice, but the way she was talking made Ramona shiver. Due to that Ramona tried to agree with her but really didn’t want to join.

This school was not normal; it had you throwing darts, reading upside down, and anything you could think of except normal things. Throwing darts was the most unpleasant class Ramona took; her boring history class was nothing compared to that class. Ramona actually enjoyed reading upside down, she found that it helped her think better than standing right side up.

Ramona took the classes 24/7 with no sleep at all. This would make Ramona very grumpy. However, this was good for her, because spies are on call 24/7, so it was good practice. Ramona would be reading and deciphering morse code when others were probably learning how World War I started. With this advanced training, Ramona got a lot of scholarships to spy agencies. This only made Ramona fear her life because now many people have already tried to kill her. She longed for her old life wanting to know what life was like if she didn’t agree to becoming a spy. She missed her family, friends, school, and even her grumpy old principal, Mrs. Johnathon.
