Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Has Dominated This Summer

By: Grace Liu

Taylor Swift’s record breaking Eras Tour has been the talk of the summer. A singer this popular has not been seen since artists like Michael Jackson and Madonna.

The trade publication Pollstar estimated that Swift has been selling about $14 million in tickets each night. By the end of her full world tour, which is booked with 146 stadiums from 2023 to 2024, Swift’s sales could reach $1.4 billion or more. Her sales could exceed Elton John’s $939 million for his farewell tour, the current record-holder.

Swift has had more No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 than any other woman. She has also placed 10 albums on that chart this year.

“The only thing I can compare it to is the phenomenon of Beatlemania,” said Billy Joel, who attended Swift’s show in Tampa, Florida, with his family.

There has been a lot of news coverage on Swift’s tour.Swift is also raking in positive news, other than Tiketmaster’s poor press. Swift’s fans during a Seattle concert have reportedly shook the ground in an equivalent to a 2.3 magnitude earthquake. She has also reportedly been giving her crew $100,000 bonuses.

Now, airplanes are packed with Swift fans, and travelers trade stories and compare concert outfits. In Kansas City, comedian Nikki Glaser attended her eighth show, a decision that she said has cost her around $25,000.

Before Swift’s Eras Tour, she has not seen on tour since 2018. Another major tour this year that has fans excited, is also by a woman, Beyonce. Beyonce’s Renaissance tour has caused fans to book long flights, and are planning on going to concerts in costumes, like in the Eras Tour.

Glaser later said that of the eight shows she had been to, her favorite concerts were the ones where she had brought her mother. “Everyone is in love with her,” Glaser said her mom told her after one show in Texas. “Now I get it.”
