Five Neighbors Killed Over Noise Complaint in Texas

By: AB G

In Cleveland, Texas, five neighbors were unfortunately found dead, due to the shooter’s response to an unharmful complaint about the sound of firing guns. Although the police have not found the shooter yet, they are searching extremely carefully in order to punish him for his appalling action.

The five victims of this shooting are Sonia Argentina Guzman, Diana Velazquez Alvarado, Julisa Molina Rivera, Jose Jonathan Casarez, and Daniel Enrique Laso. The victims’ age range is eight to thirty-one. Daniel Enrique Laso is the eight-year-old who was shot. Investigators do not know for sure that everyone was in the same family, even though they were all in the same house.

Since many Americans are invested in gun culture, there are not many limits to who can have a gun. Forty-two states, including Texas, allow Americans to openly carry guns, leading to a higher amount of mass shootings. The shooter was shooting recreationally when this happened, leading to the noise complaint.

"It's a normal thing people do around here, especially on Fridays after work," Arevalo, another resident on the same street said. "They get home and start drinking in their backyards and shooting out there." Because shooting is common, Rene Arevalo did not think anything of the gunshots, although there was real danger around.
