This jersey costs so much because Jordan is the GOAT (Greatest of All Time) of basketball. The previous record was held by Argentine soccer player Diego Maradona. His jersey sold for over 9.3 million dollars.
After this auction was out there was a lot of excitement for sports fan and collectors who want this great jersey from Michael Jordan. In this auction there was also an autographed relic basketball card which costs 2.7 million dollars.
These two items alone cost over 12 million dollars at this auction called INVICTUS. This shows that Jordan is the GOAT of basketball.
