Class Syllabus - Grades 6-8
Objective: Students will be able to identify figurative language and its role in a given text.
Essential Questions:
What is figurative language?
Why is figurative language important to use as a writer?
Enduring Understandings:
Figurative language refers to words that are stretched. Its meaning goes beyond its literal definition(s).
Figurative language is important because, by stretching the meaning of words, a writer can sound more artistic, make a joke, or communicate more clearly and engagingly with the reader.
