I am from winter and fall;
from Thanksgiving and Christmas.
I am from reading and drawing.
From Percy Jackson and Heroes of Olympus.
I am from the snowy mountains and hills from which you ski.
I am from board games and yelling in Chinglish;
a mix of Chinese and English.
I am from guitar and drums; ‘Twinkle Twinkle’ and ‘两只老虎’.
I am from the bitter loss of pets, and grandparents.
I am from 爸爸,妈妈, and countless others.
I am from pastas and steaks;
chicken wings and fish.
I am from procrastination and despair;
anxiety and distractions.
I am from no patience and bad humor.
I am from bloody noses and elbows;
chins and knees.
In a phone, pictures and videos live, accessible only by screens.
But what matters most, is that they all live within my mind.
