Thailand Nightclub: At Least 14 Killed and 35 Injured in Fire!

By: Ray Wu

Many people go to nightclubs. There, you can drink, dance, listen to music and have fun. Isn’t that great? Recently, there have been many nightclub tragedies.

What is a nightclub? A nightclub is a place for people who love music. Professional DJs go there to perform. Seems fun? For most people who go, it is.

Recently, near Chonburi, Thailand, there was a fire at a nightclub at 1 a.m. At least 35 survived but got burned. At least 14 died. The burn injuries ranged from mild to serious. The good news is that no one caused the incident.

Nattanit Pikulkaew, an innocent victim, went to the nightclub to celebrate her brother’s birthday. Just then, she saw a woman running, who told them the roof was on fire. In a moment, the speakers on the stage caught on fire. Many couldn’t escape because the entrance was jammed.

“I saw people trying to break the glass walls, but they were too thick,” Pikulkaew said.

Although she survived, her brother got severe burns. His friend died inside the nightclub.

The youngest victim identified was 17 years old, but there might be someone even younger unidentified.

The front door was the only exit for the visitors in the building. The musicians would exit from the back door, which was locked during performances. The ceiling was lined with acoustic panels. They were highly flammable.

Yes, someone can agree that nightclubs are pleasant places to go. Nobody seems scared about the tragedies. They are literally risking their lives in the nightclubs. Are they making smart choices? Is the world now scared of nightclubs? Will anyone do anything?
