Often in history, we are fascinated with new tech products released, and we overlook the next year. Now, it’s time for 2023, and there will be more surprises down the road.
So far, in 2022, we’ve experienced several not-so-jaw-dropping moments, such as Apple’s new release of the iPhone 14, which isn’t so much different than last year’s model, and Meta’s new $1,500 virtual reality headset that Mark Zuckerberg hopes will “change the way people work.” Unfortunately, even with an extended battery life of 2-hours, most people probably use it for a very serious video game session.
Then, Tiktok almost fell over, with the U.S. government seeking to ban it in several states. It’s already illegal to use on government-issued devices.
Towards the end of the year, OpenAI released ChatGPT, a currently free-to-use artificial intelligence computer, can write essays, code, and even business proposals.
Unfortunately, the computer often messes up even the most basic arithmetic, but we can expect the programmers will fix that sooner or later.
So, are you ready for 2023?
In the next year, we will see more highly advanced AI-powered computers. ChatGPT might be able to work as a research assistant, examining articles hundreds of pages long and giving quick and concise summaries.
We probably won’t see so much more AI computers, but we might even get AI-embedded tools in things like Microsoft Word and Google Docs. Since most companies either don’t have the technology or motives to make an AI chat computer, other companies might sign collaboration contracts to have AI technology in their apps or products.
Next, we might see new and probably slightly more sophisticated versions of virtual reality headsets. Metaverse, or whatever you would like to call it, can change the way you work by making you able to multitask within a meeting and scroll through data or emails. Apple also announced that it would join the VR market, but it is highly likely that people will still be using these headsets for games.
Then, we will be seeing a new dawn of electric vehicles. With Tesla shares plunging quite a bit this year, we might see other brands like Ford, GM, Audi, and Rivian edging closer to Tesla’s dominance in the industry.
There also will be more options for social media. With Tiktok’s future unknown, and Twitter’s chaos that hasn’t ended yet, it seems like the social media industry is struggling to be the trend. But actually, with this year’s release of BeReal, younger people began moving to use it. And many influencers, journalists, and technology experts are starting to use Mastodon, a platform similar to Twitter.
I sure hope 2023 will be very exciting and good to come. Ready or not for 2023, here we go!
