In Oslo, Norway, Zaniar Matapour 42-year-old man from Iran shot multiple people near areas affiliated with the LGBTQ+ community. His victims were people at gay bars, gay clubs, etc. Two people were confirmed dead and 21 were wounded seriously. The criminal’s choice of weapons was an MP 40, which was a type of submachine gun.

Around 80-100 P customers hid in the basement at the crime scene, and most were unscathed.

A Sunday LGBTQ+ parade was canceled because of this incident. Prime minister Jonas Gahr Stoere says “These misdeeds remind us of this. This fight is not over. It is not safe from dangers. But we are going to win it, together.” A grand funeral was held in remembrance of the two who were deceased. Many civilians attended to pay respects and even the Norway Crown Princess Mette-Marit attended. More people that paid condolences to the two deceased were the French President Emmanuel Macron and Finnish President Sauli Niinistö

Witnesses described that the shooter went into the club known as the London Pub, and suddenly fired a barrage of bullets at people. Soon after, several people tackled the man and seized his weapon. A neighbor of the prime suspect says that it was scary that a killer was living next to her, especially when she was also affiliated with the LGBTQ+ community.
