On Sunday, early this week at the BET Awards a notable person wasn’t in the crowd. That person was Lil Nas X for a simple reason, he wasn’t nominated at the BET awards this year. Many people understand that he would be ashamed and embarrassed, but Lil Nas X started blaming BET that he didn’t get nominated because of his race and sexuality.
Though he wasn’t nominated for the BET awards this year he already has many trophies and medals in his trophy room. He has performed twice prior from this year’s BET ceremony, he’s won 2 BET HipHop Awards, and received two nominations at last year's ceremony. And ever since releasing the song “Old Town Road” back in 2019 his reputation has skyrocketed and has tons of fans and celebrities that support him.
Though the entertainment industry is rigged, people are trying to change it. For example, the Grammys said they would eliminate their secret nominating groups and the Oscars have been working on making the people on stage more diverse against the #OscarsSoWhite. If Lil Nas X keeps playing his race and sexuality on the table, that could make others mad and frustrated. If he keeps doing this, it will backfire drastically on him and his career.
