Since the 1950s, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has improved and grown. Popular search engines which include ChatGPT and Google Bard have recently been overflowing with users. Although using these websites seems very beneficial, they have plenty of flaws. AI could possibly take over our society, beginning with these sites, which is why AI is harmful.
Artificial Intelligence has been popular since the 1950s. Take the Wizard of Oz’s tin man for example as one of the first robots created. People seemed to enjoy this unique concept and it evolved into AI robots, search engines, websites, people, etc. The field of AI research was first founded at Dartmouth, a college in Hanover, New Hampshire. This was a brand-new course and promoted new ideas. At first, people assumed that it was useless and a waste of time, although in the first decades of the 21st century, when they were close to terminating the program, people began to take an interest in this profession, and it bloomed with scholars.
People like AI for its efficiency. It is much quicker to type something in rather than get up and ask a friend or a parent. If you have trouble making decisions, AI can help with that. Instead of thinking it over for days, AI can give you a simple answer, although it might be a biased opinion.
Even though AI has many pros, it also has many cons. AI can sometimes be extremely inaccurate, due to the lack of time it has been around for. It cannot have the knowledge of some things and it may say something that is false. This could affect your life majorly. For example, if you wanted to search a research website for a paper, and then an unrelated article came up, you would not do too great on the paper. AI is also extremely expensive to create.
Creating one robot costs between 50,000 dollars and 100,000 dollars. For this price, you could buy an expensive car or an apartment, instead of a robot that could help you do simple tasks like tying your shoes.
