Human’s best animal friend – introduction of Dolphins

By: Stephen Chen

On the day of August 2021, In the icy waters of the Isle of Talley, Ireland, a 30-year-old British man nearly died when the temperature suddenly dropped. It is incredible that with the help of a group of dolphins, the swimmer was successfully rescued after 12 hours. Dolphins help people get out of trouble with surprising frequency. But do they really want to help people, or is this a coincidence? Is a dolphin a kind and clever animal? The answers are absolute yes.

The dolphin’s language ability is likely to be representative of its intelligence. For example, every dolphin has its own whistle—like name. When a dolphin meets another dolphin, it learns the new dolphin’s whistle.

Not only are dolphins well-spoken, but they also are one of the few animal species that can use tools. Yes, that’s correct! As you might know, the reason why people became the lords of the earth is through using of tools. People can beat almost all animals via tools. However, dolphins might be catching up on the tool. Recently, when a dolphin in Australia is looking for food, it will attach a sponge to the front of its nose to protect itself from the seabed sediment.

Aside from humans, the brains of dolphins are some of the most developed among animals. The human brain accounts for 2.1% of his body weight, and the dolphin brain accounts for 1.7% of his body weight. The dolphin's brain is divided into two parts. When one part is working, the other part is fully rested, so it can stay awake without sleep for a lifetime.

Dolphins are human friends. Dolphins in the zoo are very happy to see people as parts of their life. With the deep-going of people’s research on dolphins, we will find more secrets about them. Soon, it will be much easier for us to communicate with this clever animal.
