England Beats Northern Ireland 5-0

By: Lian Zhu

In England, the final soccer matches loomed as the team, Lionesses, have reserved their place and crushed the opponents with eight goals in a quarter of the finals. With the victory, England will go to the last eight. They have won the previous three by crushing the opponent and making goals all the time. At the end of each match, they had many points while the opponent had none.

For Northern Ireland the match scores were 2-0 and they knew they lost. The people there had not expected to be defeated like that. An England manager named Sarina Wiegman had not been able to go because she tested positive for COVID so someone else took her place.

While at the tournament, player Beth Mead lead the score that made the 2-0 come true. Even though that other teams played, a substitute player named Alessia Russo scored two goals in five minutes after half time break. This amazing team could win more games.

Northern Ireland was not happy as the team finished bottom of the group without one single win. The Lionesses easily flicked the ball into the goal past the goalkeeper. After tries they still could not make it work.

After the tournament, England will go and play Spain or Denmark next Wednesday.
