BTS Takes a Break From Performing But Says To Return

By: Claire Wang

On June 14, the K-Pop superstar group BTS announced on social media that they would be taking a break. BTS’s members are now almost 30 years old and have spent many years together, and they want to take a break to do their favorite hobbies and explore life on their own.

BTS, who are also known as the Bangtan Boys, officially started performing in 2013. The group’s members, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, became one of the world’s most successful and famous music groups. RM, the group’s leader said, “I always thought that BTS was different from other groups, but the problem with K-Pop and the whole idol system is that they don’t give you time to mature.”

According to NPRMusicNews, a representative for BTS formally stated, “To be clear, they are not on hiatus but will take time to explore some solo projects at this time and remain active in various different formats.”

While the group officially decided to take a break from performing, BTS has said they plan to return after this break. “I want BTS to go on for a long time,” RM said.
