BTS goes on break to work on solo careers

By: Sophia Wang
Over a dinner that was recorded and posted to social media, sensational K-pop group BTS declared that they will be taking a break. RM, the group’s leader, states that after years of working, the group has lost its direction.
"To be clear, they are not on hiatus but will take time to explore some solo projects at this time and remain active in various different formats” a representative from Hybe stated.
BTS, also known as the Bangtan Boys, is made up of seven men: Jin, RM, V, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, and Jungkook. The group began in 2013 and has risen in popularity since then.
During the dinner, they discussed the pressures of always having to come up with popular, hit songs. They all agreed that they wanted to take some time off and mature as individuals.
"I have my own hobbies, too, and things I want to do on my own," Jin said.
“I should be writing about what I’m feeling and the stories I want to tell,” Suga, the group’s lyric composer said, “but I’m just forcefully squeezing out words because I need to satisfy someone.”
RM stated that he feels like he hasn’t had room to grow artistically and feels pressure from being the group leader and spokesperson.
However, they were adamant that they would eventually return together as a group.
