As Time Goes By

I used to be a young little girl,

playing with toys and wearing little pearls.

I’d spend my days just having fun,

running about and enjoying the sun.

Then I got a little bit older,

and my days were getting colder.

I spent hours holed up in my room,

stressed and anxious for exams coming soon.

Then after a couple of years,

I went job searching with my peers.

I found a job and worked hard and long,

and managed to stay happy, singing songs.

Then decades pass and I retire,

my limbs and joints in pain and dire.

I look back on my younger days,

proud of my strength while on the way.
