A Truck Propelled by Jet Engines Races Planes and Crashes, Killing Driver
At an air show in Michigan, a custom-built race truck named the Shockwave Jet Truck was racing two planes when it unexpectedly crashed. This vehicle, capable of reaching 350 miles per hour, was powered by three jet engines and crashed during a pyrotechnic part of the air show.
Chris Darnell, the driver and part of a family who has been in the air show business for years, was killed during the crash. His father Neal Darnell said it was, “a result of mechanical failure on the Jet Truck”. He also explained how much Chris liked the air show business, “Living the Dream” as he said.
Many videos taken by spectators see the truck driving through flames, though this was just because of the position of the spectators. The pyro was only on the grass, and the truck was on the driveway, creating an astounding spectacle for the viewers. These special effects also made the scene even more terrifying, as the truck barreled through the flames and flipping, and then a deafening sound as the truck broke into pieces on the driveway.
