7-foot-4 Victor Wembenyama is a Basketball Monster

By: John Yang

As the NBA season comes to an end many teams in the league are working hard to develop the new talent from the 2023 draft. However, one person that comes to mind when you think about these rookies is Victor Wembenyama, from France. Wembenyama was the first pick in the 2023 draft and will play with the San Antonio Spurs in the 2023-2024 season. He stands at a staggering 7ft4 and has an eight-foot-long wing span.

Although Wembenyama hasn’t played a single minute, Sporting News and many other scouting websites call Wembenyama the greatest prospect since Lebron James, who is the current record holder in most points scored. Wembenyama was also mentored by famous Minnesota Timberwolves center, Ruby Gobert.

At first, many people don't believe that Wembenyama will stay healthy for long but, to make sure he doesn’t get injured his manager makes him do many pre-game stretches to ensure he doesn’t get hurt. So far, these exercises and stretches have kept Victor from getting injured in the G-League.

What will Victor's future look like? Trail Blazers executive and former ESPN analyst Mike Schmitz said "I've long considered the 18-year-old French big man the best prospect I've personally ever evaluated."

Not only does Wembenyama have height to his advantage he has great shot-blocking ability, a versatile offensive game, and dedication to continuous improvement. There is no doubt that Victor Wembenyama has a bright future.
