Objective: Students will be able to read a passage with appropriate speed, accuracy, and emotion.

Essential Questions:

  1. How can I make sure that I don’t read like a robot?

  2. What does it mean to scoop sentences?

  3. How can reading fluently help me to be a better reader?

Enduring Understandings:

  1. To make sure you don’t read like a robot, you can figure out what parts in the sentence relate to one another. Then, you can read them together in a clear, fluid voice.

  2. Scooping sentences means putting particular phrases with words that have similar meanings or parts of speech and saying them together with unity.

  3. Reading fluidly can help students be better readers because it is easier to comprehend emotion and plot in a story.
