Innocence

Under the grey and darkening sky,

there lays a girl with wandering eyes.

She counts the shining stars peeking out,

pouting and sulking when she loses count.

She soon gets tired and decides to go home,

waving at strangers while she roams.

She sings her favorite Christmas song,

dancing and skipping while twirling along.

When she gets home I tuck her in bed,

watching her fall asleep with a little bit of dread.

Soon she will be exposed to the dark truths of the world,

and her perfect alluring fantasy, will all be in a swirl.
